British painters of the Romantic Era
The painting in the Romantic Epoch is - as the literature - determined by fantasy/ imagination and nature.
The individual experience of nature and the connection of th human being and nature was the most important theme, but there are also pictures with political and social, for example the Industrial Revolution, and sometimes even religious motives.
The painters expressed the atmosphere in nature by direct and spontaneous sketches drawn in nature, which was revolutionary. The natural effect of colours became most important.
Many painters already showed methods of the following Epoch of Impressionism.
