The British statesman and
philosopher, Edmund Burke, was born in Dublin, January 12, educated at a
Quaker boarding school at Trinity College, Dublin. Burke entered
Parliament for the pocket borough of Wendover and he got a high position
in the Whig party. Burke held no public office
until the downfall of the North Ministry in 1782 but his public activity
never ceased.
Burke wrote "Reflections
on the Revolution in France" in 1790 and it was read all over in
Europe and encouraged its rulers to resist against revolutionary ideas.
One of the foremost political thinkers of 18th century England, Burke died
on the 9th of July in 1797, and was buried in a little church
